Halloween NYC
Halloween NYC
New York City in the early 1980s was out of control, in a good way. The city was electric with excitement. Musicians, magicians, dancers, comedians, and well any type of performer could be found on the streets, all attempting to make a name for themselves.
“If you can make it in New York…”
Street festivals and events seem to happen weekly, and millions of people would show up.
Halloween was one of the crazier events with no real crowd control. Thousands of people dressed for the occasion would congregate at Washington Square Park. Eventually streaming up 5th Avenue and down Avenue of the Americas, finally dispersing at Christopher Street and deep into the West Village.
I would wander into this parade of characters with small film cameras searching for the weird and wonderful. Oh the times I had in New York City…
