Portraits - Myanmar (Burma)

On my 14 trip to Myanmar I was using the Fujifilm GFX 50s medium format mirrorless camera system. Ideal for portraits. On location with no lighting equipment and really no time to set up. Many of these images are moments that just happened.

The peole are wonderful, but have no comprehension or interest in the time it takes to do a proper portrait. They will give you a moment and think that is more than enough. But with this system, I was able to work very quickly and capture these fleeting moments, before interest was lost.

Challenging to say the least, but the results are worth it. I am still in awe of the quality from this camera, the smooth tones and textures that seem to go on forever. These need to be seen as very large prints to appreciate and feel the quailty of these images.

Another wondeful feature of this medium format system, is to be able to choose a range of formats from panoramic, HD to square and see exactly what you are going to get.

Here are a few of the portraits from this trip. Shop owners, market vendors, long shoreman, farmers and more...
