Mountains in the Sky

Inle Lake, Myanmar (Burma)

It all started very early yesterday morning with a 45 minute long boat ride in the dark of night, under the stars, to a field on Inle Lake. We arrived to the Balloons Over Inle crew preparing our ride as we watched and enjoyed last minute tea and coffee. Once all was set, safety training done, we board our basket to the sky...

Lift off and we magically floated above the lovely patterns of floating farm fields on the lake. Once over the vast lake and early morning fisherman, we did a short test landing on a floating barge. Our great pilot nailed it perfectly... Taking off again, soaring higher and higher as the sun rose through the mist over the mountains.

At almost 10,000 feet we were treated to incredible views of the Inle Lake valley and surrounding mountains popping out of the sky. As we enjoyed the beautiful peaceful time, we eventually started floating towards Nyaung Shwe.

Slowly descending down to more beautiful landscape, details of floating farms and sugarcane fields. Our pilot picked the a landing field, the Ballons Over Inle ground crew heading over to us, last minute enjoyment of the views and we were set in our landing positions. We floated through some trees and once again our great pilot nailed a perfect landing.

Out of our flying machine, were treated to champagne and lovely cakes as the ground crew seem to instantly deflate and pack up the balloon. What a ride and what a wonderful way to start off the day and see the world.... Thank you Balloons Over Inle!!!
